Operations & process transformation for critical infrastructure.

I take operations that are complex, inconsistent or growing faster than their process can carry — and turn them into governed, measurable, AI-enabled systems. Thirty years across hyperscale data centers, national networks and regulated environments, with a US patent along the way.

The proposition

Most operations problems are not technical. They are structural.

Sites run differently. Incidents get written up three different ways. RCAs go stale. Change queues grow because the process was never designed for the scale it now carries. My work is to find that structure, redesign it, and make the improved way the easiest way to work — then prove it with data.

Diagnose

  • Value stream and process mapping across sites and functions
  • Root cause discipline — beyond symptom capture
  • Data-led identification of non-value-added work
  • Governance and quality review of operational documentation

Redesign

  • Standardised incident, problem, change and knowledge workflows
  • Platform transitions — including APAC to global ServiceNow
  • KPI frameworks with staleness controls and clear accountability
  • Automation and AI applied to repeatable editorial, reporting and triage work

Embed

  • Leadership reporting cadence that survives the launch quarter
  • Capability building — coaching leaders and teams, not just writing procedure
  • Cross-functional alignment across Site Ops, Service Desk, CE and platform teams
  • Lean training delivery, including at the Elphinstone SWE facility

Signature work

Things I have actually shipped.

Vantage Data Centers · APAC

Global ServiceNow transition

Led APAC service improvement through the move from a regional platform to the global ServiceNow instance, and carried the region through the stabilisation period that follows every platform cutover.

One operating model across APAC sites.

Vantage Data Centers · APAC

Problem management KPI framework

Designed and implemented KPI structures for problem management, including staleness controls that stop records ageing quietly and clearer ownership at each stage.

Problems that close, not problems that drift.

Vantage Data Centers · APAC

Leadership reporting cadence

Established weekly APAC incident reporting plus RCA and corrective action reporting, giving leadership a consistent regional picture instead of site-by-site anecdote.

A single source of operational truth.

Amazon Web Services

Hardware deployment process flow

As Technical Program Manager, built the process flow for deploying new hardware into Amazon data centres — the choreography between logistics, install and validation.

Repeatable deployment at hyperscale.

Amazon Web Services

ACES / LEAN software and process

Four and a half years delivering continuous improvement and DevOps tooling inside AWS data centres — automated rack position testing, ticketing workflow wrappers, logistics and stock control automation.

Engineering applied to operations, not just to product.

NW Tasmania Community Media

AI-enabled newsroom relaunch

On the committee of The Central Coast Voice, leading the relaunch and introducing AI tools to automate editorial and distribution workflows for a volunteer-run monthly.

Same volunteers, far more output.

Patent spotlight

Line isolating power connector

An original invention, taken from problem statement through to a granted US patent — a connector design addressing safe isolation in powered line work. Patents are not the point of an operations career, but they are evidence of a habit: seeing an unsafe or wasteful step that everyone has normalised, and refusing to leave it alone.

Where this is going

Data center operations is about to be rebuilt around AI — twice.

Once as the load: AI capacity is reshaping density, commissioning tempo and the consequence of every outage. And once as the tool: the operational layer itself — triage, RCA drafting, knowledge management, change risk assessment — is the most automatable work in the building. I sit at the intersection of both, with the operating discipline to know which parts should never be automated at all.

Open to conversations

Senior operations leadership, APAC.

If you are scaling data center operations across a region and the process is not keeping up with the footprint, that is the exact problem I solve. Based in Sydney.
